Bitcoin as any other newborn currency system would be nothing without
values that are shared by many people, many more than a single community
even. this is no news for anyone even mildly approaching the field of
currency design.
Besides that, there are some evident and very strong reasons why Bitcoin
specifically made its success, which are bound to political events that
might be uncomfortable to mention for some, yet are very evident, among
them the Wikileaks financial blockade.
What Gavin shows really is that noone is really important in Bitcoin: if
someone as boring as him can be on top of maintainership for so long and
representing a figure that is obviously easy to replicate. he could be
substituted any time by someone as boring and conservative, since that
is also the best behaviour to cover up mediocrity.
I'm quite offended by this rewriting of history and mystification.
I guess I'm not alone with that.
