Part of it is my attitude. I give my support to events which promote my
values.

This event is for giving recognition (/legitimacy) to a mafia.
I see no reason why Allaire or Gelenbe are at the top.
Scroll down past suits, and finally you find the real contributors:

ThomasV (Electrum), Peter Todd, Alan Reiner, Nicolas, Stefan Thomas,
Johann Gevers, Meni Rosenfeld, Jan Moller (Mycelium), Erik Vorhees, Nejc
Kodric, Gavin Wood and others.

It's a mafia. I disagree with empowering this attitude.
No way should Gelenbe be at the top.

If I felt this had changed or that there was a real effort to earn my
trust then I would participate. But I don't see that. It looks more like
more power grabbing to me.

The banality of fascism is projecting an image either through fear or to
win favour of some powerful group (regulators, bankers). And with that
comes maintaining an image, control of your crew, censoring
(marginalising) anything that is outside that, homogenising, and
hierarchy. And removing perceived threats to an agenda.
I fight for a world of diversity and merit.
Many of these people now in the foundation see themselves as managers of
Bitcoin, shepherding it towards success like some kind of philosopher
kings. Making compromises for the greater good.
Also with an agenda that is corrupted by money and power.

I deal a lot with various groups of people, police, .etc I know the
mindset and where this stuff emerges from. And you sometimes think you
can change the system by participating in it, but the system changes
you... corruption is a very subtle and slow thing, it doesn't happen
overnight. You don't even notice it burning away on your psyche and you
get to the point where it feels justified shooting people for some
greater good.

Even the stuff where I see Gavin saying DW is good .etc then why is he
telling reporters stuff in secret "off the record" to try and discredit
us? For years, he's personally tried to push me out of development, told
people I'm a crappy coder on IRC, done other things, played party
politics .etc Always about control and perceived threats.
Sorry but I see it just as winning the crowds like some politician lying
through their teeth. He's a figurehead placed in power by the foundation
to legitimise their operations with their myth of him representing the
intellectual lineage of Satoshi, and in return he backs their agenda and
actions (through the position he is given).
This is corruption.
We are all corrupted in subtle and different ways.

A lot of new money is now being poured in by people who think differently and who want it to be spent on other subjects. I am completely on your side, you only have to look up my own rantings on these topics all over the place last summer.

Neither would Cody or Antonopolous and I have to admit that I have to count myself in there, having turned down their offer to a seat on a panel there for the same reason. It only occured to me later that if alone the people named (Jaromil were you there?) would have been on there and shown where Bitcoin is coming from and where and why we think the journey should go further, this might not have been such a bad idea. They could not possibly have refused to give us the opportunity to speak out, alone because that would have finally and completely discredited them in front of the whole community and _then_ would be the time to dismiss and diss them and then your points would look so much more valid than they do now.
