Hi!
This is a very cool project. I've reviewed it and 100% support it. I'd
work on this if I wasn't doing libbitcoin / DarkWallet.
I will be involved helping organise / oversee this project. There's
funding too. If any C++ devs here want to work on a cool project and get
paid, then let me know your offers. Send me your opensource projects or
code that you have.
Thanks!

Subject: Ethereum: the ultimate DAC/smart contract, update

Hey all,
It was great meeting so many of you at the conference! It was truly
amazing to see just how much attention the cryptocurrency economy is
getting these days.
I would like to provide an update on the progress in developing
Ethereum. Just to remind everyone, the core idea behind Ethereum (see
the whitepaper here <
http://vitalik.ca/ethereum.html>) is to create an
all-purpose computational platform for smart contracts and decentralized
autonomous corporations, and to essentially generalize the functions of
Namecoin, Mastercoin, colored coins and other such projects that I'm
calling "cryptocurrency 2.0". To do this it uses a Turing-complete
internal scripting language.
First of all, the release will likely be later than I had anticipated.
Originally, the intent was to create a Mastercoin-style layer on top of
the Primecoin network. However, I have had the good fortune to meet a
few people who would be willing to provide some up-front capital
investment, so I realized that I should make the project much more
ambitious that I had intended before. The new Ethereum will be a
fully-fledged independent cryptocurrency, using a dedicated blockchain
with a memory-hard mining algorithm. Also, having taken advice from a
few major cryptocurrency developers and enthusiasts, I have made the
choice to get rid of the premine, so the Ethereum
organization/company/foundation will not have any algorithmically
enshrined special privileges in the Ethereum network (although of course
it will have the privilege of being first to mine and having the best
understanding of the Ethereum protocol).
Here are the two documents in progress:
http://vitalik.ca/ethereum.html
http://vitalik.ca/spec.html
At this point, I am looking for developers to help bring the project to
fruition. I would like to have:
(i) a C++ developer to make the client (or parts of it; I can cover some
parts myself)
(ii) someone to create an SPV client (no advanced transaction interface
required, just "from", "to", "value", "fee" and the ability to add data
items) and make a web wallet interface out of it
(iii) someone to create a Coinbase-like "buy Ethereum" site.
My intent is to have everything ready to go by mid to late January. We
are willing to pay well for quality developers (we'll give you part
payment in Ether if you so choose), and would even consider bringing you
in to Toronto to work in person. Remote is fine too though, as long as
you're willing to dedicate a large chunk of time to make this awesome
thing happen.
If you are interested in investing in Ethereum, the best way would be to
buy Ether (the internal currency) as soon as it comes out; I would
prefer to "keep the house small" as much as possible with the Ethereum
group/company itself, though sufficiently generous offers may always
sway my judgement. But buying Ether will push the price up and thus
support Ethereum development indirectly.
And if you have anything else to offer the project, don't hesitate to
contact me.
