We are writing to invite you to join us in an exciting international
event in offender development.
On 17th February we will be producing a live stream from
Carcel(prison) Distrital in Bogota as part of the 9th Bogotrax
Festival (www.bogotrax.org). We will be presenting a show devised by
inmates in workshops that began, one morning every week in November
2011 with the view towards opening up a new aspect of rehabilitation
through intercultural dialogue and identity formation via telepresence
events. This year is a pilot and the objective is for future
streams to take place with participants from prisons in other
countries in the form of telepresence multi-disciplinary arts
performances, cultural discussions and realtime, streamed dance
battles.
On 17th of February we will have 3 performances during the day
(approximately 30 mins long). You can join us at any or all times and
please give us your comments as the inmates (PPLs) are all very
excited to be having the opportunity to perform and discuss their work
with people in other countries.
9AM, Bogota (2pm GMT) - Inmates performance of work they have been
doing recently. A show with 6 acts showcasing MCing, theatre,
recycled arts, percussion, streetdance, circus, acrobalance and video
montage work. (This daytime activity is for international audiences
who may not otherwise be able to see the show and because it is light
the video aspect of the show will not be in its entirety
2pm to 4pm Bogota (7pm to 9pm GMT) - Performance in the prison by
international Bogotrax artists, and probable dance battle
6pm to 8pm Bogota, 11pm to 1am GMT – Prison premiere of the inmates
performance, with full video work and impromptu music and dance
You can find out what time it will be where you are via the following URL

Please join us in this pilot work. You can tune in to our channel on
XTractor TV and leave comments while we are doing the streams, OR if
possible, we would like for groups in other countries to join us in a
2-way stream. Here the inmates can be asked about their experiences,
their work, aspirations, culture. Bogotrax have been working in
prisons for 5 years and Carcel Distrital is respected in Colombia as
a forward-thinking prison which prioritises the development of inmates
in order that they have more future opportunities and less likelihood
to re-offend. We have permission to enter into a new approach to
rehabilitation which will give inmates the chance to re-think
territory and identity through cultural activities and live streams
that broaden their world view and increase their self esteem and
vision. We want to begin to work in partnership with, and to build
new teams in other countries.
If you would like to join us in the stream, which is a vital part of
our research and development in this important field please get in
touch as soon as possible. If you have contacts in prisons or
rehabilitation centres who could potentially benefit from this
emergent work, please do forward them this email and for more
information about the activities, including some short videos and
photos of recent works in Distrital and rehearsals please email
vickysinclair@???
Information about the event on 17th February will also be posted on
www.bogotrax.org
The channel for the stream will be

We look forward to connecting!
Regards
vicky
