ok! let me know what the desktop consists of, this switching should
all be possible easily from a documented SDK and use of .dyne modules

meanwhile, regarding the default WM in dyne:bolic, I've met Fruity
last week and we investigated LXDE and talked about our experiences.
the outcome is that, as much as we like it, our experience with users
around is that they are not providing all the ease of use and friendly
environment that Gnome2 does.

Now considering that at present gnome2 in dyne:III works pretty well
and lightweight, talking also with Urla another developer I'll spend
some time during holedays in Italy, we are enthusiastic about keeping
up Gnome2 (which is dropped by Debian and Ubuntu) and especially its
fork Mate which looks pretty promising http://matsusoft.com.ar/projects

Its all pretty raw and unpackaged, but then dyne:III as the
predecessor will facilitates the inclusion of fresh software within a
distribution with a solid base. keep in mind we do not follow the
approach of Debian or Ubuntu, which the one of having a central
repository. The Dyne:OS is more of a casbah :^) and the module
approach serves the purpose.

Whatever pure:dyne carrot and coriander has configured, which I
removed from default since all those repositories contain non-free
software, i recall it being ubuntu 8.10.

What I recommend in your position now is to install manually (dpkg)
the packages you need in addition... soon there will be the
possibility to create a .dyne module with them and the compiled
source, so that you can distribute a .dyne module and people can pass
it along even without download it from you.

I hope this gives a picture of the dyne spirit :)

I've seen it, its a kewl distro and a good place where to look for
more inspirations, those hackers definitely know what they are doing.

ciao!
