oh for an historical note I've forgot to mention Francesco Cossiga was
the higher institutional figure in Italy to keep close ties to CIA and
the stay behind network, being also the "chair" for the Gladio
organization and a key figure during the cold-war.

Obviously he now has left behind many people in power: while foreign
intelligence organizations kind of left the field for good (deja vu..)
they never bothered to remove the monsters they have created.

there is probably enough for some hundred years of wars on terrorism
still...
