path, since the problem is likely about hardware support (AMD64, wow!
that's some expensive shit) i think the solution lies in xorg or the
framebuffer kernel support (which SHOULD be a fallback).
however if you have such a big machine you can also install a system
like gnewsense or pure:dyne on it (new version recently out),
dyne:bolic is most useful on old machines or borrowed terminals or
quick workshops...
