I can confirm that I have printed with a parallel port printer using dyne:bolic just by modprobing a few kernel modules. Might have been just with lp though. :D

the CUPS in the default dyne:bolic 2.x is known to lack support for
parallel port connected printers. this is a shame, i know. I knew
Bono in Jakarta and he also had this problem, fixed it by compiling
the cups daemon from the source, maybe he will pack a module for us.
