this would be a top feature. go for it.
i'm not familiar with .deb packaging and its handling of dependencies
always makes me nervous, but still i believe this is the way to go:
implement compatibility with as many packages as possible - and online
repositories - same could be tried for fedora packages (refer to BLAG
for the 100% free subset).
