forgive me if I am telling you something that you already know, but
there is a slash missing in that path. it should be:

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

use the tab key to auto-complete path and filenames when you are not
sure what they are supposed to be. for example, you could type:

nano /et[TAB]/X[TAB]/xo[TAB]

again, [TAB] here represents literally pressing the TAB key, not
typing the actual word.
