I had the same problem with my usb.
Surely you've formatted it with a 'writable' filesystem (not NTFS).

I've found a note from jaromil in mailing archives and resolved the issue:

from commandline:
mknest -f /mnt/hd<x>/<y>/dyne/dyne.nst,<size>

where x and y are hd number and partition of your usb stick and size is in
megabytes.
