I've been following the UNSUBSCRIBE thread and have read posts from
others who are rather unpleased with dyne:bolic, particularly as far
as support is concerned. From what I'm reading, it sounds like I'm
unlikely to get some help I was getting ready to ask about.
So I'll ask a different question; presuming that my stay with
dyne:bolic will be short (I can't even run a shell script as root!)
what other distros have y'all had experience with that are very low in
resource demands? I've been using Puppy Linux a lot, but since it
loads itself completely into RAM, a lot of loading and running of
programs is slower than dyne:bolic since they have less RAM to play
with (I'm running a clone with an AMD-K6/2 300 mhz CPU and 256MB of
RAM).
I love the idea of being able to put the main OS into a directory on a
FAT32 partition, starting the boot from CD and finishing on the HD
(and going on to install GRUB if I want to). So where do I go from
here? Thanks for the help.
