That's right- but I'd go even further and say that
unless you've tried v1.4 or later then you don't know
how good this setup has become now. v1.4 fixed a ton
of bugs and introduced some very significant new
features such as support for simultaneous recording to
multiple tracks, support for unlimited track length,
100's of bug fixes and DSSI support has made making
music under RG/Linux much easier. Of course, v1.5.1 is
even better!

Before RG gained DSSI plug-in support, most people
would normally have to use at least one, more often 3
or 4 external synth programs (like zynaddsubfx,
fluidsynth, specimen, linuxsampler etc.) running, each
which has their own settings, file formats and each
one needing to be routed through JACK to RG. All these
separate files and connections just to do a small song
could get really confusing for someone new to MIDI
etc. Now with DSSI softsynths such as the Xsynth and
Fluidsynth DSSI plug-in's, all that hassle is
unnecessary if you don't need the extra features
external progs like zyn and linuxsampler can offer,
and often people don't. So, please could you also
include these two plug-ins when you upgrade to the
latest RG.

Another thing that I think could be improved with the
current dyne:bolic version its its odd, space-wasting
ROX configuration. There is more than enough room free
in the panel that is along the bottom of the screen
for the clock and all the shortcut icons contained in
that annoying side panel which wastes a lot of
valuable screen real-estate- especially for people
with older monitor or GFX card setups.

All the best from snowy Lancs!

dan
