Cool, I might give that a try. The problem
definitely seems to be related to the kernel. I
assume that the older version kernels are optimized
and patched, correct?

Do you know if there is a way to upgrade all the apps
(short of recompiling everything) yet still keep the
kernel the same? Provided, of course I find an
earlier kernel that boots.
