I don't have any ideas to try, but I have some experiences. I've tried
db 2.1, 2.2, 2.3.
2.1 works best for me on various systems - my PC at work, my PC at
home, a Dell D510 laptop and an IBM ThinkPad (model unknown).
So maybe, you might want to try a different version. Hey, it can't hurt.
