hi,

there 's two way to install new application on dyne :

look at here :

http://dev.dynebolic.org/ : extending dyne:II .

You can use :

     dpkg to install .deb
     rpm to install .rpm
and installpkg to install slackware package.

Jaromil always says that it's better to find sources and compile them by
yourself :

"in case you want to do a personal modification to be kept just inside
your nest, then you can just proceed as normal and install everything in
/usr or /usr/local prefix (it will be kept in your nest and overlayed on
the currently running system using UnionFS).

i suggest to compile everything from the author's provided sources,
anyway it is possible to install .deb .rpm and .tgz packages into your
nest."

the secon wyz ( and more exciting) is to learn to create new module so that,
you'll be able to share your apps with the dyne community :

http://dev.dynebolic.org/trac.cgi/wiki/DyneModules

I'm learning by myself to pack new apps into module, sometimes it's very
easy, sometimes it's more difficult ( i can't create a module with apache-
php mysql yet because of some trouble i don't really understand ) but you
can tell me if you have some pbs, i'll do my best to help you.

> Hello everyone - I just downloaded and installed the latest version (2.3) and am enjoying it very much. However I cannot figure out how to install additional software. There is no symantic, yum or any other GUI package manager that I can find in the menu system. I would like to add software to this wonderful system and I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me if there is an easy and preferably GUI mode to achieve this. Thanks very much.
