One would not expect Revolution to come out of a proprietary company
but I have just returned from a Novell launch of SLED/SLES 10 here
in Brisbane, Australia

In the tradition of the PARC design process for the original WIMP,
they used a large group of non Linux users to design their radical
new menu system.

They added the ability to translate VB macros on the fly in Open
Office, included the iPod ready Helix-Banshee and camera ready F-Spot.

The work they have done on the USB interface will help all of us.

The AppArmor software can wrap individual applications in a
customisable firewall, and apps start at a random memory address
defeating all but the genius malware hacker.

On the server side they have integrated the Heartbeat cluster
software with XEN. You can move real time apps like streaming video
from one virtual machine to another without missing a frame, and
Heartbeat will startup a new virtual server if one falls over.

Have a look at an evaluation download. This is really good stuff.
Revolutionary like we love.

Kind regards
Stomfi
