I'm a super super long way to being even a competent Linux user. I might
be wrong - please can somebody confirm - 1.4.1 has R/O access to NTFS?

Try in the meantime (no guarantees, of course) ensuring that there are no
spaces in the path name before UnrealTournament. I know UT dislikes that
too!
