I've had issues also. But, I can get wifi to work on one of my laptops.
loadmod orinoco_cs
iwconfig eth(either '0' or '1') essid (whatever) key (whatever)
(I use DHCP so..)
dhcpcd eth(whatever)
(I can't remember how to config a static ip.)
