That is an interesting, yet quite accurate way to view it. Similar with
Microsoft 365. Basically they build their own version of the internet
which is inferior to the one based on real standards.

Well I give high scores to things like noreply-application-integration as
sender cause it basically is Google CRM spam.
Also some nonsense TLDs like ".makeup" get their fair amount of points.
Another thing that did not work out. Most of the new TLDs are complete and
utter crap. There are a few ones that may be useful, but most of them
could go away again and I would not miss them one single bit.
It is my impression that the internet deteriorated big time with the
increasing commercialization. Advertisement companies destroyed quite some
of it. And too big to fail companies also destroyed quite some of it. As I
started with it, using pine as mail client on IBM AIX workstations at
university there was no spam filter, cause there was (almost) no spam.
Even regarding video platforms, while I still use YouTube for quite some
stuff that unfortunately is not available elsewhere and while the AV1 and
VP9 encodings they use there are excellent… regarding freedom and
accessibility other platforms like Odysee or even Bitchute¹ with their… we
do not censor stuff easily attitude… are way superior. And I am so happy
whenever I find something good on some Peertube instance. Cause Peertube
is about how the internet was meant to be. Compared to all the others
YouTube is the most painful to access and it means using VPNs and other
tricks to download videos from there. And download I do from there, cause
what I do not download may be gone in a week from now or sooner.
[1] Bitchute drives not censor to the extreme. You may find quite some
videos you do not agree to one single bit. I do. However… I am happy they
are available and not censored away so I can make that choice.
