Oh shoot, I totally meant to say Devuan, not Debian. I don't remember what DE I'm running on that system though. (It's been a bit since I used it.) I also forgot to mention that the touchpad issue behaved the exact same with Arch and Devuan (that was the point of mentioning Arch). Switching VTs and back also makes it recover with both distros.
