I got a smartphone last fall, and I am sad to report that Android is
adware. Apparently Satya Nadela has taken over "Google-slop", and I get
the occasional "Log in to Use Gemeni" popup, that I can't dismiss
without going back to the home screen, terminating the app I'm currently
in. This is even with Gemini "disabled" in "Apps". My plan is to...
- download+install "apk-analyzer" to my phone to get packages listing
- "apt install adb" on my desktop
- remove some packages from the phone
- what's the exact syntax?
The removal command I've seen listed most often is...
pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver
Before anyone screams... up here in Canada the regulators have decided
"in their infinite wisdom" that ***ALL*** alerts are sent at the
unblockable incoming-nuclear-missiles-alert level. That includes a
missing kid several hundred km distant at 2:00 AM in the morning. An
American phone roaming in Canada would receive a "Presidental Alert".
Any hints or booby-traps?
