I only knew of the first 2 hex digits and never saw the two others in
any application (fdisk, cfdisk, gparted).

    My preference still goes to reiserfs for home, though I now use
ext4 for the rootfs, in the fear grub drops reiserfs support. I've tried
zfs, but Linux support is daunting and I happened to loose my home
because of it. I've used also jffs2 years ago with specific hardware.
