No it is not advisable.

Yes, and bear in mind that once you arrive at Daedalus, 'usrmerge' will
need to be done *before* upgrading to Excalibur (see
https://www.devuan.org/os/documentation/install-guides/excalibur/upgrade-to-excalibur.html)
