For what it is worth,
I fired up a virtual machine, installed the latest stable devuan (net
install) and ran a test. I downloaded the mlterm source, installed the
requirements (some did not show up until I ran configure) and did a build.
It did succeed and it did appear to work.
I did not test languages other than English.
