For installation of excalabur on a SSD, I cannot run fetchmail
even though files were copied over from the working excalibur
system that I am presently using.
When I run "$ fetchmail -c I get error
"fetchmail:home/haines/.fetchmail:7:symtax error at sslproto"
The '7" here puzzles me.
The ssl line in .fetchmailrc reads " sslproto '' " It is
copied exactly from present working .fetchmailrc.
When I do $ openssl s_client -connecxt example.com443 -showcerts
I get: ... "Name or service not known"
For mail I use fetchmail, mutt amd exim4. I checked
/etc/hostnanme and /etc/host. I am in mail group. .fetchmail has
permission 700. The sslproto line is indented four spaces.
In exim I enabled TLS encryption:
# /usr/share/doc/exim4-base/examples/exim-gencert
When asked for server name, I put just the host name rather than
fqdn for my present working system. But making this mistake on
broken mail systen did not help.
Which error message is correct?
