Subject: [DNG] Locating a video card
This a spin off of another question to which people have very
kindly replied, but it looks like up against a stone wall.

In 2024 I installed a Gigabyte Z590 Aorus motherboard. In January
the GPU chip burnt out (no reflection on Gigabyte, for I've used
a number of their card over the years without problem). I thought
I could simply insert a video card in place of the dead chip, and
without any thought at all I purchased a Gigabyte card.

That was a mistake because it needs a proprietary nvidia driver.
That can be installed, but apparently its presence makes it
impossible to boot the system. It seems that after the GRUB menu
the kernel and initram are loaded, but the the boot process hangs
because it cannot find the regulatory.db and iwlwifi firmware¸
even though I'm connected to Internet by means of Ethernet.

What I need to do is to try an inexpensive video card that uses a
driver that comes with a Devuan installation such as the nouveau.

What inexpensive card relies on drivers provided by a Devuan
installation? I don't need anything at all fancy because I do not
make demands on video>
