Since I am connected by Ethernet I did not ask that firmware be installed from
external media. I in case I nerver had problems installing by meaas of wifi and
did not need to bring in firmware to do it.

Sorry to have led to confusion. I means only the partitions on the target disk.
Now I remove all partitions on the SDD I'm not installing to and all partitions
on the targeted disk. Ah then do non-exprert installation to single partition
and accept all defaults except that I not install a DE of Xfce.

After it loads the kernal and the initrm (if I recall correctly}, it hangs with
these lines:
