Thanks for the suggestion Steve. Yes, my motherboard has a NVME slot,
but I am deliberately not using it, because NVME drives aren't
designed to be easily swapped in/out. My main desktop has 2.5 sata
drives connected to power switches on my front panel, which lets me
turn on/off any of the internal drives. This allows me to do things
like test different installs/operating systems on physical hardware,
while making sure my main install doesn't get touched. I also have an
2.5 cage, and two 3.5 cages in my external bays along with 2.5 to 3.5
adapters for when I need them. Besides that, there is USB, and I have
two ESATA ports. I also have USB NVME enclosures for when I do need to
access NVME drives, but don't want to go through the hassle of opening
up my system to do so. The drives in those enclosures still show up as
SCSI devices.
