1) I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, and have done the nvidia-driver thing for the last several releases, up to daedalus.

2) I always get errors from the nvidia-persistenced so I just delete it. It does not affect the video, so you should not worry about it or look here for the source of your problems.

3) I tried to install Excalibur and the nvidia-driver install failed totally, with the graphical server not coming up in any resolution. Did brief debugging attempt and then managed to purge *nvidia* and go back to the nouveau driver. I just let it sit after that because I want to use the nvidia driver. My plan is to wait a month or two until someone fixes the nvidia thing, rather than trying to be an early adopter. I keep two partitions for OS and always do a full install of new versions, just for this reason!

The # nvidia-detect says to install nvidia-driver which I did

The command # modprobe nv says module not found
The xorg log EE says nv module not found.

I did not cook my video card because I can boot from another disk
and can run startx and have (low resollution) video.

When I tried to install the packages suggested, nvidia-persistenced
failed to initialize. Couid no process
nvidia-persistenced --configure. As result could not configure
nvidia-driver-full. [not sure of spelling of nvidia-persistenced]
