Arnt, thanks for the suggestion. I tried to install all the packages,
but nvidos-persistenced failed to initialize. Coult not install
nvidia-persistenced becaue it is not configured. Could not install
nvidia-driver-full because nvidia-persistenced not confiigured.

Got the idea a reboot might help, but not could startx. I can access
this list with mutt in terminal. Root can't startx, nor does
startx flukxbox work. Log of no help. So I have to step back from
my question unti I can get xorg to work.

Incidentally, lost DIAPLAY value for a while, but then it started
working for some reason.
