Thank-you. I managed to get it working, after a hiccup. As part of
systemd integration, x11vnc no longer includes "vncviewer" for the
client side. Google's AI answer solved my problem!!! The solution is...

sudo apt install tigervnc-viewer

...which installs the "vncviewer" executable, and it works.
