Long ago I noticed that a colleague had positioned smallish instances of xeyes
at each corner of his rather large monitor. When I asked why, he
said that they kept track of the mouse pointer for him, and I
was enlightened...
Theory says that humans have evolved visible whites of eyes to work out
where other tribe members are looking. The xeyes hack takes advantage of
that ancient circuitry and so is unexpectedly effective.
