Selvatorium es un evento que se realizará por primera vez en Octubre 2014 en la finca el Ensueño (espacio rural cultural) sobre el Río Palomino en el departamento de la Guajira en Colombia. Este evento tiene como objetivo reunir un grupo de personas interesadas en trabajar en temas relacionados al arte, la permacultura, las tecnología sostenibles, la comunicación autónoma, la producción, transformación y distribución de alimentos y la creación de comunidad.

Proponemos llevar a cabo este encuentro en la montaña, lejos de las ciudades, porque sentimos que es importante impulsar lo que llamamos “el desplazamiento positivo”, es decir, un movimiento social desde las ciudades hacia al campo. Entendemos que las ciudades están sobrepobladas y conforman un modelo de vida no sostenible a largo plazo.

Desde los inicios de la revolución industrial de Europa, ha habido un éxodo inmenso del campo hacia a la ciudades; este éxodo se estabilizó en Europa a mediados del siglo XX pero en Colombia apenas estaba empezando. Colombia está en pleno proceso de industrialización y el movimiento de campesinos que abandonan sus tierras en busca de una “mejor vida“ en la ciudad es permanente. Abandonan sus tierras porque la vida del campesino no es rentable, los productos que cultivan no son valorados por los mercados y la expropiación forzosa de tierras es algo continuo en Colombia.

Para lograr frenar este éxodo es imprescindible fomentar comunidades rurales educadas, sostenibles, conectadas, capaces de fabricar y distribuir productos propios y con expresiones culturales vivas y visibles.

Proponemos redescubrir y también reinventar la vida y cultura contemporánea en el campo. Es necesario experimentar con nuevas formas de vivir en comunidad, construir tecnologías apropiadas; fomentar cultura libre, soberanía alimentaria, construcción ecológica, además de impulsar expresiones artísticas rurales. El encuentro que proponemos pretende generar un espacio para compartir ideas en torno a estos temas y experimentar con éstas sobre un terreno natural y social único.

Estamos abriendo una convocatoria para seleccionar los proyectos a participar. Nos gustaría que fuese un evento abierto para todos, pero aún no nos es posible recibir más de veinte personas por las limitaciones en infraestructura que presenta el Ensueño. En nuestra pagina web ofrecemos una descripción completa de los proyectos que podrían ser de interés en el contexto de El Ensueño y su región inmediata, así como una lista de herramientas y materiales disponibles.

La fecha limite para entrega de proyectos es el 30 de Junio.

SELVATORIUM

Call for participation

Selvatorium is an event that will take place for the first time during October 2014 in the rural cultural space El Ensueño on the shores of the Palomino river in the Guajira department in Colombia. The objective of this event is to call together a group of people interested in working on themes related to art, permaculture, sustainable technologies, autonomous communication, the transformation and distribution of food and community development.

Selvatorium will take place in the mountains far from the cities. We feel it is important to promote what we call “positive migration”;  that is to say, a movement from the city to the countryside. We understand that the cities are overpopulated and promote a lifestyle which is not sustainable on a long-term.

With  the industrial revolution in Europe came a huge human exodus from the countryside to the cities; this migration stabilized in the mid twentieth century in Europe but was just starting in Colombia. Colombia is in the midst of industrialism and the movement of farmers whom abandon their lands looking for a “better life” in the cities is permanent. They leave their lands because their lifestyle as farmers is not sustainable; their crops have very little value on the market. Also forced expropriation of land is continuous in Colombia due to exploitation of resources and war.

In order to stop this exodus , its is absolutely necessary to foment rural communities which are educated; sustainable; connected; capable of fabricating and distributing goods and crops and which have living and visible cultural expressions.

We propose to re discover and also re invent contemporary cultural life in the colombian countryside. We invite you to experiment with new forms community development, to promote and teach appropriate technologies; encourage free culture; bring back food sovereignty; widespread ecological construction and foment the development of new rural artistic expressions while exulting those which perdure. The event which we are proposing exists to generate ideas around these themes and experiment  on a real and unique natural and social environment.

We are opening a call to select those projects which should participate. We would like to make the event open to all , but it is not possible for us at this time to host more than twenty people in El Ensueño. In our web site you will find  a   description of the types of projects which would make sense to carry out during Selvatorium as well as a list of tools and materials available.
