despite it being YAM (yet another manifesto), it's a very
inspirational text, yes. thanks James for being The Author.
still we separate theory from practice, as well attribute to
description a leading role. what about praxis? can we communicate
things with factual realisations?
concerned hackers knew since the beginning OLPC was a failure
accumulating huge PR and donations for nothing: a good project like
Sugar was "forked" on the basis of praxis *and* theory. have we
discovered it yet or we need to write a manifesto for it? just today
FSF sent out a press release about it, maybe that helps.
dyne:bolic GNU/Linux (as well Puppy and Damn Small Linux) have
realised the zero dollar laptop way before our (can i say our?)
manifesto was written: as of today we are all struggling to survive
while people just starts to realise the theory behind.
this situation gives me a sad laughter. one could call us
avantgardes, but in fact we have a grass-root base that makes it very
different from what can be defined as such.
is it then the perceptional decay of our "intellectual elites" which
sets such distances?
in a world of urgency, the praxis of the slaves tramped over the
theory of the owners, setting new horizons for all.
there are no more avantgardes leading, there is Pueblo.
with society being what it is today, elites aren't used to praxis
anymore, re-discovering it as an Eldorados every time a manifesto is
declaimed to describe a lost common sense: again representation
substitutes reality, in the society of spectacle.
But then, do you remember what happens to Eldorado?
ciao
