Subject: Re: [Bricolabs] libre

Meanwhile I still have in my files a most interesting, if convoluted,
essay I was supposed to translate 'in English, original is in French) by
Antonella Corsani and Maurizio Lazzarato, where they argue that 'free',
besides 'libre' (as in 'freedom') should also be understood as 'gratis'
(yes,'free beer') to be true to its purpose.

My own take as 'official F/OSSopher' (for Free and/or Open Source
Software, since even at the level of acronyms - FOSS; FLOSS; F/OSS - the
issue has become contentious) is that "there exist non-trivial differences
between Free Software and Open Source Software (as succintingly pointed
out by Jaromil)". However, for every day practical use by non-specialist,
and specifically, for the purpose of taking them of proprietary $oftware,
we can, and may beter, gloss over these differences.

Cheers from Nantes, http://www.apo33.org
patriwio and Diiiinooos!
