he bought a piece of land somewhere around here:

it was a really cheap piece of land, around 5.000 reais (around 2.500
US$) for 10 ha. Why is so cheap?
because it is located in one of the most rain-free areas of the
country. If you can't afford an massive irrigation program, you are
not able to grow anything there. And it is a really hot place to live.
and why did he bought it?
because the vegetation here, called caatinga,

region climate, is the type of vegetation that consumes more carbon
from atmosphere to constitute itself. biologically, it seen obvious: a
plant that have no water and no rich substances on the soil must get
it's constitution from somewhere - the air.
so he is maintaining a piece of original vegetation and selling carbon
to developed countries that need to buy carbon-quotes (how do you call
this in english?). I've got really jealous about his project: maintain
a piece of natural forest and create money from it.
so i was thinking on how can we create an international fund to buy
pieces of native caatinga vegetation as an art project to keep the
worlds atmosphere as clean as possible. do you girls and guys think it
is possible?
one with the lands, we can also suggest artistic residences into these
areas - i know, it is really hot, but there is alos many people
leaving in the Sertão area of Brazil (sertão is an old name for this
region), and also documenting their activities and their studies. i
also thought of a webblog with information about the area, how much
carbon is it consuming and how much oxigen it is producing, online
donations and so on....
