Hiya All,

Sorry for having been silent on a thread I started myself, but it is nice
to see how the discussion has developped. And we're not finished yet, I
think.

So OK, let me clarify my position a bit.

As a hardcore social parasite myself, it would be hypocritical for me to
preach total abstinence and absolute refusal to profit from moneyed and/
or mainstream organisations/ institutions/ structures. On the contrary, I
am a staunch advocate of the 'take the money and run' approach.

HOWEVER, I think such should be done with honesty, towards oneself and
others, and with caution, cq 'due diligence'. Such caution should in
particular be exercised by those who are working with/ for such
organisations/ institutions etc. Yes, they should not hesitate to make
their pals profit from the facilitation they may be able to provide, but
should not this without due consideration, and from a position of 'power',
lest they may stand accused of being party to what Indonesian so nicely
call 'KKN' (Korupsi, Kolusi dan Nepotism - no translation needed I
guess)

In this particular case, I have no objection whatsoever to Ian coming to
Amsterdam at the expense of Picnic, and none either to Rob (who is, if
indirectly, in the employ of Picnic) making it possible. Great. But I
would have prefered this to be arranged off-list, so as to avoid the
impression that Bricolabs is involved in such arrangements, or worse
still, that it can in someway be associated with that event and its (many)
less savoury aspects.

Cheers, patrizio and Diiiinooos!
